Ladies Friendship Club Meeting Minutes

Secretary’s report: The minutes of the last meeting were previously sent by email and passed out at the meeting. There were no additions or corrections. Wendy G. made a motion to approve the minutes. It was seconded by Lori J. It passed unanimously.
Treasurer’s report: Joyce F. told us the profit from the Luncheon was $1,066, the donuts was $47, the Gift Baskets was $501 and the Bake Sale was $722. Total profit was $2,334. Our balance is $5,493.71. Heidi K. made a motion to approve the Treasurer’s report. It was seconded by Jean C. It passed unanimously.
Old Business:
Hot Dog Sale: We will be doing the Hot Dog Sale on Saturday, March 9th during the Park Wide Sale at Irene Halczak’s at 24 7th St.. Susan M. will be getting a $250 grant from Thrivent to buy the hot dogs. Cathy M. passed around a sign-up sheet.
Team Reach App: Cathy M. said to download the App and put in the code: TLFC. She said she would send out an email with that information.
SOLVE Maternity Homes: Kathy, a representative, told us the organization began in 1976 by one woman to help women in crisis pregnancy. There are now four properties; three are maternity homes, the fourth is a continuing program for women with their babies. Most women have been through some type of trauma. SOLVE is a program not a shelter. They operate on private donations and some Corporate sponsors. They, also, have volunteers. Since 1976, there have been about 1,450 babies saved. She had passed out literature about SOLVE. Their website is www.solvehomes.org. They are always looking for “Weekend House Moms”.
Valentine’s Day Flower Distribution: We distributed flowers to 29 people 90 years old and older, this morning.
New Business:
“Souper Bowl”: Cathy M. explained that John R. was collecting nonperishable items before and during the Super Bowl to be given to a local food bank. The Boating & Fishing Club donated $100. So Cathy thought we could maybe give a little more. Donna M. made a motion to donate $101 to Hunger Ends Food Pantry. It was seconded by Rosie K. It passed unanimously.
Fashion Show: Joyce N. explained the “Spoof Style" Show and “Resale Shop Outfits” Show we had last year. Some other ideas are a Karaoke Style, DIY Duct Tape, Holiday Style, or Decades. The show is on March 21st. Several ladies volunteered to help organize the Show.
Cathy M. thanked everyone who helped for the Luncheon on February 3rd. She told us she went with Heidi and Susan to watch the Southeast High School Girls Basketball game. We have supported their team, in the past.
There are flyers on the table with information about the Blood Mobile that will be here on February 22nd.
Cathy M. read a Thank You Card from SOLVE. Cathy M. said that if you know an organization in the Bradenton area that would benefit from our donation, please bring their name and information to the next meeting.
Heidi K. told us she has been requesting blankets and hoodies during the Coffee Hours for the homeless people that come to Turning Points. Also, she has been purchasing them herself from Goodwill. Margie R. made a motion to give $400 to Heidi K. to purchase blankets and hoodies for the homeless people. It was seconded by Donna M. It passed unanimously.
Cathy M. said the kitchen needs to be cleaned. She said she would look at the dates for the last week of February and discuss it with the Board then let everyone know.

Cathy M. thanked Susan M., Jean C., and Lynn J. for everything they have done in the past to help.
Treasurer’s report: We made a $500 donation to Meals on Wheels. We collected $150 in dues. Our balance is $3,049.71. Margie made a motion to approve the Treasurer’s report. It was seconded by Cindy. It passed unanimously.
Old Business:
Thrivent Financial Services: At our last meeting there was some discussion about Thrivent Financial Services. Cathy M. asked Joyce N. to give us an explanation especially for the new members. Joyce told us it’s a financial advising organization that she’s affiliated with through her church. Through an application process, they will give up to a $250 grant for an approved charitable event. She has received grants in the past several years for food for the luncheon, material for the Blanket Angels, etc. Susan M. and her husband are also members. She has received grants that have been used for the Hot Dog sale supplies.
SOLVE Maternity Homes, “Baby Shower”: There were a lot of items brought to the meeting, today. Cathy thanked everyone for their donations. She asked if we should do this again next month. She has a list of requested items. Rosie made a motion to have the “Baby Shower” next month. It was seconded by Kathleen. It passed unanimously. Susan M. suggested that we invite a representative from SOLVE to come to our next meeting to give a presentation and pick up the items.
New Business:
Team Reach: Cathy signed up for Team Reach. The code is TLFC.
Welcome Bag: Cathy explained that we hand out red, insulated bags with information about the Park, etc. to new shareholders from November until the beginning of May. She needs 2 volunteers for each month January-May, then again in November and December. There was some discussion about possibly adding items such as a koozie, pen, key chain, etc. Since we are just delivering the bags for the Activities Committee, Cathy will talk to Jim G. about it.
Luncheon, Bake Sale, and Basket Raffle: Saturday, February 3, 2024, Cathy has a sign-up sheet for 6 volunteers on Friday, February 2, 2024 starting at 10 a.m. to prepare the food, etc. for the luncheon. She has a sign-up sheet for 6 volunteers on Saturday, Feb. 3 for 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 12-2 pm. We need donations for the bake sale and the gift baskets. The donations for the Gift Baskets can be brought to Cathy M. or Margie’s houses. There will be one Gift Basket for men and one for women.
Valentine’s Day Flower Distribution: We distribute flowers to people 90 years old and older on Valentine’s Day. Peggy made a motion for anyone who’s available to assemble the vases with flowers to meet in the Hall at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 14, 2024. It was seconded by Anita. It passed unanimously.
Hot Dog Sale: There was some discussion on where the Hot Dog Sale will be held. Lynn J. said she will find out where we can have it and let Cathy know.
Cathy M. read a thank you card from Meals on Wheels Plus for the $500 donation last year.
The Fashion Show will be on March 21, 2024.

Susan Miller welcomed members and guests and first-time attendees.
Susan M. read Thank You notes from the Southeast High School Girls Basketball Team for our donation. It was suggested that we go to one of their games next season. She, also, read a Thank You card from Meals on Wheels Plus for our donation.

Secretary’s report: Karen R. stated that the minutes of the last meeting were previously sent by email and passed out at the meeting. There were no additions or corrections. They are approved as read. Copies of the current Membership roster were passed out at the meeting.
Treasurer’s report: Joyce F. said the Hot Dog Sale went very well. There was $47 in the donation box. We made a profit of $1,730. We sold 163 tickets for the Fashion Show. We made a profit of $728.63. We still have 61 Patriot and 40 Cancer bracelets to sell for next season. The balance in our account is $4,159.46. There were no questions or additions to the report so it was accepted as read. Susan M. mentioned that we like to keep about $1,000 in the account to begin the next season which means we have about $3,000 to allocate, today.

Welcome Visits: Cathy and Peggy have been coordinating these. If anyone has a new neighbor, please notify one of them so they can make sure they will be visited. They have visited the new shareholders from December to February. Jean and Joyce will be doing the visits over the summer.
New Business:
Distribution of Funds: Susan M. and several members gave information about many of the organizations in our area that we could possibly donate. After much discussion, it was determined we should donate $400 each to SOLVE, Our Daily Bread, St. Jude’s Hospital in FL, Downtown Ministries, Stillpoint Mission, and Turning Points; and donate $600 to Foundation for Dreams. By a show of hands, everyone agreed unanimously.
Susan M. told us that the centerpieces made by Lynn, Pat and Sandra that were used for the Fashion Show are going to be sold as a fundraiser.
The meeting was adjourned at 2:54 p.m.

Ladies Friendship Club Meeting Minutes

Susan Miller gave a Welcome & Introductions of new members/visitors, 7 new attendees, many from the RV park.
Poem & Prayer by Susan Miller, followed by lunch served
Business Meeting started at 1:43 by Peggy Baer.
Minutes of last meeting previously distributed were approved by a majority vote with no corrections or additions.
Treasurer’s report:
Membership dues of $5 can be paid to Joyce Farrington today or at next meeting.
Luncheon showed a net profit of $874 due to a donation ($250) J. Nicholson was able to get from Thrivent.
Coffee & Donuts had a net profit of $73.50 after expenses of $68.50.
Basket Raffle had a net profit of $214.00 after expenses of $45.00
Bake Sale profit was $543.75
Total made on all these fund-raisers held in conjunction with the craft bazaar was $1,705.25
Bank Account end of last season was $1,729.46, currently $3,434.71
Treasurer’s report was accepted as given.
Thank You’s from Dream Oaks Camp, Our Daily Bread, and Meals On Wheels Plus (MOW+) were read
by Peggy Baer.
She noted one of our previous beneficiaries, Downtown Ministries, is now closed.
A member spoke on behalf of the Blanket Angels, thanking us for the generous donation last year when they had no fabric to continue.
MOW+ can receive dollar for dollar matching funds for any donations before the end of the year. V. Anderson made a motion to give MOW+ $500 now so they can receive their matching funds. A. Osgood seconded the motion and it was approved by a majority vote to do so.
Upcoming events announced & volunteers will be needed for all events:
- Luncheon, Bake Sale, Basket Raffle again in conjunction with the Craft Bazaar scheduled for Feb. 3
- Hot Dog Sale March 9
- Valentine Vases Feb 14
- Fashion Show with a twist TBD: March 21 or 28 (Reminder was given that Mar 28 is the day before Good Friday so it may not be a viable option)
Discussion was held about the Welcome Bag project for the Activities Committee. Report on progress was given by J. Farrington. She will follow up with new owners who were not able to be contacted throughout the summer and Peggy announced we will get a new volunteer list going for this season.
There was a discussion/description of Thrivent Financial Services who has donated generously to our projects through S. Miller & J. Nicholson over the past 3-4 years. All members were encouraged to question their churches or fraternal organizations they might be affiliated with to see if there are other avenues available to us.
Ladies Friendship Club is scheduled to serve at coffee hour on Monday, Dec 18. Members Penny B., Lynn J., Lynn F., Violet A., Donna M., and Paula P. volunteered.
Joyce N. asked how many had interest in her printing more of our recipe book we compiled in 2018/2019.
She will print another 15 or so to be distributed to those wanting them.
Joyce N. distributed a wish list for SOLVE Maternity Homes, an organization we previously donated to.
A motion was made to each bring 1 item to the next meeting to be donated to SOLVE Maternity Homes.
The motion was approved by a majority vote, so we will have a “donation baby shower” at the next meeting
January 10.

Secretary’s report: Karen R. stated that the minutes of the last meeting were previously sent by email and passed out at the meeting. There were no additions or corrections. A motion to accept the minutes was made by Lori J. and seconded by Joyce N. The motion passed unanimously.
Treasurer’s report: Joyce F. said the balance in our account is $2,081.22. If anyone has sold any bracelets, please turn in the money. It’s ok to continue selling them. She still has 29 Cancer, 66 Patriot and 4 Military bracelets. If anyone wants to sell bracelets, please see Joyce F. A motion to accept the report was made by Lori J. and seconded by Rosie K. It passed unanimously.
Old Business:
Hot Dog Sale: Susan M. asked for at least 4 people to sell Fashion Show tickets during the Hot Dog Sale. She did get volunteers. She, also, asked people to take a packet of tickets to sell and let everyone know to keep their ticket with the number for the door prize drawing. Doors will open at 12:30 p.m.
Susan M. passed around the volunteer signup sheet for the Hot Dog Sale to remind everyone when they need to be there. There will be signs through out the Park advertising the Hot Dog Sale. A list of our contributions will be displayed. Susan M. said she received a $250 grant from Thrivent to pay for the supplies.
Fashion Show: Susan M. thanked Joyce N. and Heidy K. for all their efforts in organizing the Show. Lori J. said if anyone has items for the door prizes, they can give them to her or bring them to her house at 3 D St. She has made 20 bags so far. Joyce N. thanked everyone who is modeling. Susan M. passed around a signup sheet to bring goodies and volunteer to help. The first part will be the funny outfits. Then there will be an intermission. The second part will be outfits from a thrift store. At the end, all the models and Ladies Friendship Club members will be invited to go up on stage. There will be an announcement about our contributions. Joyce N. said she got the grant from Thrivent and has money left to pay for the refreshments.
New Business:
Elections: This year the office of President and Treasurer are up for election for a two-year term. Joyce F. has decided to continue as Treasurer. Cathy M. has agreed to be the President. Peggy B. has agreed to be the Vice President. There were no other nominations. Everyone was in favor by acclamation for those three people.
Susan M. asked anyone who has a recommendation for a donation and is leaving before our next meeting, please give her information about the place with the name, location, their purpose, etc.
Lori J. spoke with Kathy in the Office about the need for helping any residents to pay for their monthly fee. She was told there is no need, now.
