LADIES FRIENDSHIP CLUB MEETING MINUTES
January 8, 2020 1:00 PM Number attending: 33
President,Susan Miller, welcomed new members Kris Scott, Donna Madison and Ruth Oberski. We are glad you are with us!
Thanks to Lynn Jones and Arlene Sharpsten for the lovely decorations.
Jean Colson opened the meeting with prayer.
As usual, a wonderful lunch was enjoyed by all.
Susan read the minutes of the last meeting. Minutes were approved unanimously.
Treasurer’s report: Adding dues collected to the $3066.65 from the last meeting, our total is now $3129.65
Old Business:
Kelly Saveir from Meals on Wheels and Manatee Food Bank explained what their organization does for the community. 1,200 meals per week provided for seniors, lunches for students during the summer and kits (diapers and formula) for babies when they leave the hospital.
A motion was made to give $400 to each of the following charities: Downtown Ministries, Southwest high school girls basketball and FELT (feeding empty little tummies). Motion passed unanimously.
New Business:
February 1 is the next craft show and Joyce Farrington volunteered to head up the committee to make the lunch. Thank you, Joyce. A motion was made to give all money received from the bake sale to Meals on wheels. Motion passed unanimously We need everyone to make items for the bake sale, a dessert for the lunch and provide items for the basket that we raffle off.
Bealls will do our style show this year and we will be putting on this show with Sara Bay on February 27. Tickets will remain at $3.00 and members will make cookies for the show. On February 19 and 20 at 10:00 am Bealls will help the models pick out their outfits.
Allan Miller received $250 from Thrivent which was used to purchase enough to fill five move-in kits for veterans who have recently found housing. We hope to fill 10 kits next month.
Joyce Nicholson volunteered to visit new shareholders when they move in. Susan will inform the activities committee that the LFC has accepted this responsibility.
After the meeting was adjourned at 2:25pm, several ladies helped assemble the move-in kits.
Next meeting is February 12, 2020.
